INTRODUCTION

12 major scales and their relative minors; a total of 24 scales exist in music.
Each pitch can either be major or minor, thus there are 12 pitches in total, but 24 scales.

MAJOR SCALES WITH SHARPS + RELATIVE MINORS

There are 6 major scales with sharps:

  • C major - A minor
  • G major - E minor
  • D major - B minor
  • A major - F# minor
  • E major - C# minor
  • B major - G# minor
  • F# major - d# minor
  • The fifth note of any major scale is the next scale in the circle of fifths.

    The sixth note of any major scale is the relative minor of that scale.

    KEY SIGNATURE OF SCALES WITH SHARPS

    Key signature is the number of sharps or flats that are present in a scale.
