What is Tailwind CSS?
First released in May 2019, Tailwind CSS is a front-end CSS framework. It is currently at version 3.0 Since its release, Tailwind has created quite a following. More 300K have used it to enhance their design systems.
Advantages
1. Styling
Tailwind is a unique CSS framework and when it comes to styling web applications, Tailwind does not have a default theme that you have to use like other CSS frameworks. It is 100% customisable to your liking.
2. Rapid CSS and Responsiveness
No framework is faster than Tailwind when it comes to styling HTML.You can create good-looking layouts by styling elements directly. This is possible due to the classes that are built in.
This is a responsive CSS framework.
Disadvantages
1. New format
As there ais no need to write CSS rules yourself, Tailwind works differently than most CSS frameworks. Tailwind mixes style rules in with your HTML files and it can be confusing.
2. Hard to use quickly
Because of the hundreds of built-in classes, Tailwind CSS is quite learning-intensive.
Worth it or not ?
Developers familiar with CSS and want to speed up the creation and design process in the long run can go ahead and give it a try.
If you are not familiar with CSS or do not want to spend time learning a new CSS framework, then this framework just might not be for you, but hey you never know if you don't try.
I personally think that regardless of what your level in CSS is you should give Tailwind a quick dabble just for fun!
